Summary Information
The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority used AVL in and around Kansas City and improved on-time performance by 12 percent in one year. Previous attempts to improve on-time bus performance using coordinated efforts resulted in a 7 percent improvement from 1986 to 1989.
Preliminary results from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, indicated that 28 percent fewer buses were more than one minute behind schedule. The Mass Transit Administration in Baltimore, Maryland, reported a 23 percent improvement in on-time performance by AVL-equipped buses.
