Benefit Summary HTML

In April 2012, a signal retiming project was performed on an 8.7-mile section of US-31 in Kokomo, Indiana. Researchers demonstrated how performance measures can be developed to assess and manage advanced signal systems over time.

Arterial travel time data were collected from crowd source probe vehicle applications one week before and one week after retiming was conducted to improve through-traffic on the corridor. An Indiana DOT counting station estimated average annual daily traffic (AADT) at 26,000 vehicles. The findings below summarize the benefits observed.
